About Me

My name is Marie Sauer and I am so excited to be you 5th grade teacher this year! This is my third year at DKIES and my eighth year as an elementary school teacher. Prior to starting my teaching career, I spent 11 years in the U.S. Army as a Blackhawk pilot. I earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business from the University of Alabama (Roll Tide!), a Master’s degree in Information Systems, and a Master’s degree in Elementary Education.

I have an amazing husband and a blended family of 5 children. My husband is an Apache pilot working on Fort Shafter. Our 4 adult children are living and thriving in Korea and Texas. Our youngest child aspires to be a Marine Biologist and is a Junior at Moanalua High School.

I would like to thank you all for allowing me to be a part of your student’s life. I know it can be difficult for many families to balance home, work, and school life, but with a firm parent-teacher partnership, I know that we can ensure that your student will succeed this year and will be prepared and confident for a lifetime of learning!
