My Story

I will be starting my 13th year here at DKIES.  I taught second grade for 8 years and this will be my fifth year in fifth grade!  I really enjoy teaching the “older” kids because the subject matter is interesting and fifth graders are lots of fun!  I also taught in Kodiak, Alaska, Shiprock, New Mexico and Farmington, New Mexico.  

I have lived in Hawaii two times, once in 1989 for two years and we moved back in 2006 and have never left.  My husband is a pilot for Atlas Air Group and we have two grown children.  Our son John lives here on the island and our daughter Melanie (also a teacher) lives in Phoenix with her husband Alex (also a pilot) and son Theo (age one).
